The promise of good things to come…. Is it a Squash? A Cucumber? A Melon?
Canteloupe (or do you call it rockmelon – I forget what is called what where sometimes…), and I tried and failed last year. They grew too slowly and got smothered by the pumpkins. I’m not sure whether it will get warm enough for it – if we have a long hot summer it may do alright…..
We keep trying to grow melons but with very limited success – no fruit at all this year.
I suspect I will have the same experience but you never know…..while its still Spring there’s hope for everything….
Hope you get many fruits this year! We had many self-sowed rockmelon last year. The funny thing is the one we sowed don’t bear us fruit but the self-sowed gave some.
Isn’t that interesting. I have some unknown cucurbits that have germinated in the old compost heap and I’m debating leaving them in to see what comes up but if I do I may end up swamping the rockmelon again…..but then again they may be rockmelons.
Magical isn’t it.:)
NIce, I love it when new seeds start to spring to life. I planted some of those the other day, but I put them straight into the ground, who knows how they will go. Good luck.
And good luck to yours too.
I love love love when seedlings begin their reach for the sky!
Its fabulous isn’t it – I particularly like watching beans, those little hills form and then you see a bit of the old seed and finally green – just wonderful
Hope you get lots of rockmelons 🙂
